Biography

​

Dr. Nicholas M. Mittica Jr., M.D.  was born and grew up in western Pennsylvania. He was inspired to become an ophthalmologist by his late father Nicholas Mittica M.D. who served his community as an ophthalmologist for thirty-five years pioneering early cataract surgery and lens implantation.

Dr. Nicholas M. Mittica Jr., M.D. graduated from the following universities:


•Kent State University Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor of science in biology and pre-med in 1992
•Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1996 with distinction in ophthalmology
•Transitional Internship, Columbus Hospital affiliated with Northwestern University
•Residency, University of Illinois Eye and Ear infirmary at Chicago from 1997-2000
•Fellowship, University of Michigan , 2000 -2001 in Cataract and Glaucoma surgery
•Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2002,2012
