Dr. Nicholas M. Mittica Jr., M.D. was born and grew up in western Pennsylvania. He was inspired to become an ophthalmologist by his late father Nicholas Mittica M.D. who served his community as an ophthalmologist for thirty-five years pioneering early cataract surgery and lens implantation.
Dr. Nicholas M. Mittica Jr., M.D. graduated from the following universities:
•Kent State University magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology and pre-med in 1992
•He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa while at Kent State University.
•Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1996 with distinction in ophthalmology
•Internship at Columbus Hospital affiliated with Northwestern University
•He completed his residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear infirmary from 1997-2000
•Fellowship at the University of Michigan , 2000 -2001 in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment surgery
•Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2002
